  1. MadCityMac Says:

I hope like hell this run against the Brewers and beating the Yankees today doesn’t help save Moe and Crane Kenney’s jobs. Bastards.

  2. genrebuster Says:

Nah…no way Hendry saves his job for the long-term, unless Ricketts is completely insane or they win the World Series.

    This COULD be the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  3. chucky Says:

Genre….the Cubs will not win the World Series. So that leaves only one possibility. Ricketts is insane. And that interview the other day proved that.

  4. MadCityMac Says:

Guys, I don’t think there’s much doubt Ricketts is insane, or is he just another clueless little rich boy with waaaaay too much money, but not enough to fix that dump at the corner of Clark and Addison. More and more I hate Bud Selig for blackballing Mark Cuban. He’s eventually going to end up with a MLB team, and it’s every Cub fan’s loss that it’s not the Cubs. “Just injuries, and everthing else is fine!” Ricketts, you are so full of shit!

  5. genrebuster Says:

I’d like to know what Peter Gammons thinks…about Hendry, Ricketts and the like.

We know what he thinks about Wrigley Urinal.

  6. Fro Dog Says:

Hey everybody. I just wanted to wish you all a happy Father’s Day.

  7. genrebuster Says:

Mac, I am with you 100% re:Selig/Cuban. The fact that he could keep Cuban out is WRONG.

  8. genrebuster Says:

    Marlins’ Edwin Rodriguez resigns. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6677981

Jim Hendry: A lousy leader…so, FOLLOW.

  9. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

    Thanks Fro.

Also, can Jim Hendry please be given his pink slip? I would also like someone’s outtake on how a person such as Jim Hendry can fail on a consistent basis at his job yet, still maintain his position with yearly raises. Some things in this world just make you wonder what is wrong with it.

  10. Ron Santo's Legs Says:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6679448

Just when you think you’ve seen it all…

  11. chucky Says:

Somebody should tell the Marlins that Jack McKeon is too sleepy.

  12. genrebuster Says:

Pujols broke his wrist, out for 6 weeks (estimated)…maybe Hendry can sign him for one year…for $50,000.

  13. Jimmy D. Says:

    Genre,

I’m sorry, but you didn’t complete your last sentence. It should have read, “maybe Hendry can sign him for one year…for $50,000 per hour. That’s $194.4 MILLION (24 hours time 162 games). That’s pretty much in line with a typical “Jimbo” style contract.

    Later,
    Jimmy D.

  14. Jimmy D. Says:

At least we beat the fucking White Sox.

  15. genrebuster Says:

    Jimmy D. I stand corrected!

  16. genrebuster Says:

    Yikes…I meant to post $50,000,000 (for 1 year)….so tired I mis-typed and didn’t notice it.

  17. genrebuster Says:

To be clear: I wasn’t intending to insult Pujols….but I WAS/AM intending to insult Hendry, Ricketts and the rest of the absolute jagoffs who have just about RUINED the Cubs for me. – The End

  18. MadCityMac Says:

    God, I love hockey!

  19. legenrebuster Says:

To whom it may concern: Change in plans. I’m in Chicago this weekend….can carve out a couple of hours Saturday night or Sunday late afternoon-evening.
Very sorry for the short notice but I had to pull the trigger quickly, haven’t seen this fare in awhile.

If we can’t meet this weekend for a couple of hours, no worries as I’ll plan another trip in the fall and give you guys more notice.

    One more thing……………..(cough cough)

    FIRE JIM HENDRY.

  20. Jimmy D. Says:

Sorry. Virtually no chance of that happening for me. Being a 3 hour drive (each way) makes it impossible for me to pull this off without advance planning.

    Later,
    Jimmy D.

  21. legenrebuster Says:

Understood…I wasn’t expecting to find a $180 rt non-stop fare, had to go for it…beats $404. Originally I had hoped for this weekend, as a result had turned down some work, was still open…etc.

Maybe we can all meet in November to celebrate the Cubs World Series title…

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA…I mean baaaaaaa baaaaaaa baaaaaa baaaaaa

  22. genrebuster Says:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/columns/story?columnist=wojciechowski_gene&id=6689555

    Not bad.

  23. chucky Says:

Genre……that article is way too kind to Ricketts. It’s time to call this son-of-a-bitch out. He’s a fucking chicken-shit coward. Plain and simple. He doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing, he has no clue what he wants to achieve, and even if he figured it out, has no idea how to achieve it. Putting up statues and having the team wear #10 patches to honor a terrible radio announcer will not win you baseball games. Seriously, he’s making the Tribune Company look good. It took him less than two years to do that. And he does not listen to the fans. Let’s take a poll to prove it. Ask 1000 Cub fans (serious fans, unlike Ricketts) if Moe Hendry and Clown Kenney should be shit-canned. What do you think the results will be? I’ll bet I can tell you. Every sports show in Chicago is calling for them to be dismissed. What does Fanboy Tom do? Calls a fucking goddamned news conference to let everyone know he’s 100% confident in Hendry, Kenney, and Quade. Seriously, fuck Tom Ricketts. He’s a goddamned idiot. The Cubs won’t win a fucking thing under this ownership regime.

  24. Nemo Says:

Thanks for the good find, genre.

Chucky, I think Wojciechowski was saying pretty much what you said-just in a much more diplomatic fashion as he probably wants to keep his job. I don’t find much to quibble with there. I’d feel more comfortable with the columnist hiring the next GM and President than anyone else in the organization making those choices.

  25. genrebuster Says:

Chucky and Nemo, I actually agree with both of you…I’m just happy that Wojciechowski wrote the article. I am just hanging onto a shred of hope that Ricketts will come to his senses soon and clean house.

It is so fucking obvious that Hendry & Kenney should be gone.

  26. chucky Says:

    http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Mark-Cuban-Los-Angeles-Dodgers-expresses-interest-in-ownership-062111

Now sit back and watch that useless bastard Bud Selig OK this. He won’t let him buy the Cubs, but I’ll bet he lets him buy the Dodgers. Selig is just another overrated asshole who doesn’t deserve his position.

Nemo….can’t disagree with you about that. I can tell you this much; I have zero confidence with any decision Ricketts makes, and Wojciechowski could probably make better choices by accident than Ricketts. I’ve really had all I can enjoy of that moron. I’m beginning to hope that a big chunk of concrete falls on his head while he’s “mingling” with the so-called “fans”.

  27. genrebuster Says:

If Selig allows Cuban to buy the Dodgers, that is just WRONG.

  28. genrebuster Says:

We can all make better choices than Ricketts. Bank on it.

  29. erniesarmy Says:

    Gene Wojciechowski:

Maybe Ricketts is too nice to be an owner. Maybe he wants everyone to like him. If so, he needs to sell the team tomorrow. The Cubs’ message these days is as strong as 2 percent milk. If Ricketts wants to be taken seriously by his constituency, he has to make some difficult, seismic and franchise-defining choices.
    —————————————-
Too “nice” why not try too dumb!

Bottom line, this man has absolutely no business running a professional sports franchise. He has no idea what he is doing, and thinks he can keep Wrigley filled while saying the same thing over and over, “We’re fine.”

If Bud Selig found it untenable to allow Frank McCourt to remain owner of a “historic” franchise like the Dodgers, then what about an even more historic franchise circling the drain on he north side of Chicago?

If removing McCourt was in the “best interests of baseball” and necessary for the “loyal fans in Los Angeles”, then what does it take for him to do likewise with this mess in Chicago?

Enough already, this site needs to be renamed: “REMOVE TOM RICKETTS!”

  30. erniesarmy Says:

“I’m beginning to hope that a big chunk of concrete falls on his head while he’s “mingling” with the so-called “fans”.”
    —————————————–
    Chucky –

Does Ricketts have security surrounding him when he makes those little treks into the stands? If he doesn’t, then shame on Cub fans for letting him get away with mingling without giving him an earful!

That guy should be able to go nowhere in the city of Chicago without fans screaming obscenities in his face! I mean it this guy needs to know he is no longer wanted as owner of the Cubs. The sooner he’s forced to sell the better the prospects for Cub baseball.

  31. erniesarmy Says:

    Well fellas, looky here –

OMAHA, Neb. (AP)—Two Nebraska women are suing founder of online brokerage TD Ameritrade an owner of the Chicago Cubs, claiming he fired them from his Omaha-based charity after they accused its chief operating officer of sexual harassment. Patricia Davis and Patricia Duncan filed a federal lawsuit against Joe Ricketts and the Opportunity Education Foundation, which provides educational opportunities to children in developing nations. Ricketts’ family owns the major league baseball team.
    ———————————
Maybe the Ricketts family won’t be around much longer after all.

  32. Pie in the Sky Says:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=6694002

The lawsuit alleges that the COO often discussed his own sex life and made inappropriate comments about women’s physical appearance. He often commented about Davis’ legs and cleavage, and once putted a golf ball into Duncan’s office and said “I’m trying to get into your hole,” according to the suit.

    00000

Sounds like the Ricketts are more into golf than baseball… lol.

  33. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

If anybody ever goes to a game and sees either Ricketts or Kenney, make sure to drag him into the bathroom and give him the swirly they rightfully deserve. Feel free to shit into the toilet before you put one of their heads in there.

    Also…fire Jim Hendry.

  34. erniesarmy Says:

You will not believe this – Koye Hill channeling Lou Piniella:

“That’s the way it goes,” Hill said. “I don’t feel like it beat us. They executed the play. What are you going to do?”
    —————————————–
If this guy was on the Cardinals, Red Sox, Yankees, or even the freakin Marlins and made a crack like that he’d be DFA’d before the sun came up in the morning.

Selig, after you remove Frank McCourt, REMOVE TOM RICKETTS!!

  35. genebuster Says:

“Selig, after you remove Frank McCourt, REMOVE TOM RICKETTS!!”

I agree….then can somebody remove Selig?

  36. Jimmy D. Says:

I’ve not seen any posts that anyone is going to try to connect with Scott on his trip to Chicago this weekend. If anyone’s able to make it, please raise a tall, cool one for me.

  37. genebuster Says:

Jimmy D. I will raise a tall, cool one for you regardless.

I will be able to visit again later in the year…and will plan it further in advance, too.

That said, I can carve out a couple of hours Sunday day or night to meet in the city, I’m near an EL station, about 8 blocks from Wrigley Urinal…

FIRE JIM HENDRY & CRANE KENNEY. Time’s up.

  38. Robert Says:

Hey moe pull a riggleman for us

  39. MadCityMac Says:

Scott, wish we could all meet up, but later in the year works much better for me; enjoy your time home!

  40. genrebuster Says:

…heading out on foot for a cup of coffee…since I’m currently located about 6 blocks from Wrigley had considered wearing a gas mask…but it’s a beautiful day in Chicago so I’ll take my chances…

    FIRE JiM HENDRY.

  41. Christopher K. Says:

Jim Riggleman is a nickel dick. The Nationals would probably have been at least 10 games over .500 if he were not the manager. I still remember the 1998 Playoffs with the Atlanta Braves, when Kerry Wood was pitching. I do place some blame on Riggleman for ruining Wood’s arm. Kerry was out there battling and had a high pitch count. Riggleman left him in for way too long.

Oh yeah, and Jim Riggleman, didn’t you sign a contract with the Nationals? Aren’t you a man of your word? No, your word doesn’t mean shit. You are like a vindictive teenage girl that doesn’t get her own way. Here is an analogy. Does anyone think that the Cardinals would pick up contract negotiations with Pujols and his agent at this point? For 27 million? For 10 years? Don’t think so. Hendry would be the only one dumb enough to sign Pujols for 27 million.

Davey Johnson will do a fine job for the Nationals.

  42. Pie in the Sky Says:

Snippet from http://www.suntimes.com/sports/6155968-419/cubs-in-no-hurry-to-start-purging-salary.html sounds like the Cubs have no plan even set for a rebuilding project.

“It’s not as complicated as people would think,” general manager Jim Hendry said. “You want to get healthy. You want Marlon [Byrd] to come back [from the disabled list], and [Darwin] Barney, and let Mike manage a club that looks a little more like the one we broke camp with, and see how we play for a while.”

Despite losing seven of their last eight series, the Cubs have played better over the last 10 days, Hendry said, citing a close loss to the New York Yankees and a crosstown series that swung each day on one or two plays.

“Close doesn’t count,” he said. “But the effort’s there. We played the game better. And we’ve played better defense.”

While Friday’s game wasn’t pretty, at least it was a win, the bottom line that has been missing throughout the season.

“Wins and losses — I know it’s frustrating sometimes because you want to pile them up,” said Friday’s starter, Ryan Dempster. “But if we keep playing the way we’re playing, were going to win a lot of games and we’re not going to know how to play any other way.”

For now, at least no dramatic sell-off attempt by the team is in the works. And sources say even if the Cubs become sellers next month, they have no intention of moving players they believe can help them next year, indicating they don’t have a multiyear, all-youth rebuilding project anywhere in the contingency plans.

    —-

  43. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Kansas City takes two out of three!

They are now 15 games below .500 and it’s not even July yet.

Can someone please tell me how much worse it has to get before Jim Hendry gets fired? What a joke.

  44. chucky Says:

The real problem still remains Tom Ricketts. He’s too goddamn stupid to see the problems this team has. Piss-poor talent, an idiot GM, and an overmatched field manager. This team will probably lose close to 100 games this year, and all Ricketts can think of doing is throwing a fucking block party and putting up a few more statues for the pigeons to shit on. This is going to get seriously ugly before it’s all said and done. Believe me.

How much worse does it have to get, Matt? The only way anything will change is if a plane crash takes out the team, Quade, and Hendry. Otherwise, forget about it. It won’t change.

  45. genrebuster Says:

I decided to not walk by Wrigley Field tis visit, even though I’m staying blocks away. The ignorant flunky owner and his ignorant GM have pretty much ruined the Cubs for me.

It is absurd that Hendry remains employed by the Cubs. Same for Kenney.

    The situation is PATHETIC.

If only the fans—and the sheeple–would just stay away from Wrigley. I won’t spend my hard-earned $$$ on this team again until Hendry and Kenney are gone…at the very least.

    The clock is broken. PATHETIC.

  46. MadCityMac Says:

How did this pathetic, piece of shit team take 3 out of 4 from the Brewers?

  47. Jimmy D. Says:

    Mac,

You obviously aren’t paying attention to the lip service being handed out by Ricketts and Hendry. The Cubs took 3 out of 4 from the Brewers because the Cubs have a much better and more solid team; top to bottom. Christ, what’s wrong with you. Get with the program. Get on the bandwagon. Pay attention.

    Later,
    Jimmy D.

  48. MadCityMac Says:

I’m sorry – *hangs head in shame* 🙂

  49. genrebuster Says:

Guys….I went for a long walk last nite…including the portion of Addison between Halsted and Clark…not my intention…all kidding aside it smelled like a urinal on one block…on a different note vino @ O’Hare is overpriced…

    FIRE JIM HENDRY. BAAAAAAA!

  50. Christopher K. Says:

Oh, for Christ’s sakes…Davis gives up 10 runs, all earned, in 4.1 innings! And the Cubs have scored six! How much damn run support do these starters need? They are fucking horrendous! Ummm…maybe someone from Iowa could do a little better? Gee, what a noble thought! Jim Hendry, you are a fucking idiot. But I’m sure you’re used to hearing that by now. Just take a hike Hendry.

  51. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

That was embarrassing. The game was over before we even had a chance to bat.

Chris, I cannot disagree with you about someone better waiting in Iowa. How Hendry still has a job is beyond me. This is pathetic and everyone in MLB is probably laughing at this.

  52. Jimmy D. Says:

    Hey Everybody,

After Davis’ performance, the Cubs’ four and five starters are now a combined 4-19.

    This is from Quade:
“We’ve been real inconsistent in those spots,” Quade said.

I’d have to disagree with Q on this one. I’d say that they’re pretty fucking consistent at sucking goat balls.

    Doug Davis? REALLY???

    Later,
    Jimmy D.

  53. Pie in the Sky Says:

Lol. Good work bringing in John Grabow after he just pitched earlier today and gave up runs.

  54. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Question: What’s worse than getting your ass kicked in a game?

Answer: Getting your ass kicked twice in the same day.

I think it would be real nice if they can get another 8 game losing streak.

    Fire Jim Hendry.

  55. genrebuster Says:

Everybody that knows ANYTHING about baseball realizes how PATHETIC and embarrassing the Chicago Cubs have become.

You can’t make this shit up!

Somebody–anybody: send Ricketts a sheep-clown suit so he can wear it to Wrigley.

  56. genrebuster Says:

“Cubs manager Mike Quade got a nice pregame surprise when it was announced that Giants manager Bruce Bochy had added him to the NL staff for the All-Star game, to be played July 12 in Phoenix.”

    http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=310628316

It’s time to celebrate and reward mediocrity!

  57. genrebuster Says:

    Again.

  58. Pie in the Sky Says:

    STARLIN CASTRO

    Batting first: 84 at-bats, .369 average, 15 runs, 10 RBI, .398 OBP

    Batting second: 88 at-bats, .375 average, 12 runs, 11 RBI, .409 OBP

    Batting third: 143 at-bats, .245 average, 13 runs, 12 RBI, .272 OBP

Mike Quade, please stop using him in the 3-hole. Thanks.

  59. Bruce Bochy Says:

Quade, you’re doing a fine job…keep up the great work!

SHOW DA FIRE AND PASSION, MY FRENDT!
