Happy Fourth of July to all of you. Only three weeks until the Bears start training camp. Even though the  Bears have improved a great deal with the players they added in the offseason, don’t forget that Lovie Smith is still the coach and that is a reason for concern.

Don’t worry Fro. I haven’t forgotten that Lovie Baker is still head coach. And I’m sure that he’ll be raising my blood pressure a few ticks. Bastard.

Happy Fourth. Don’t blow yourself up. Blow up your neighbors instead!

  2. DVXPrime Says:

Whether you set some off or go watch somebody else do it, enjoy the fireworks while you can…some whining, unpatriotic asshole is going to sue to take them all away, sooner or later…

Two different GMs, two different drafts…ONE OL drafted. And the Bears didn’t draft ANY of the 44 OL players drafted this year.

JaMarcus Webb still has a roster spot.

The Bears have a drumline, but no cheerleaders, after 27 years.

Since 1981: NASL/MLS titles won by Chicago pro soccer-3 in 4 attempts. Super Bowl wins by the Bears: 1 in 2 attempts.

Lovie, you are sooo on the fucking clock. Jus’ sayin’…

Happy Independence Day! Live free and be free!!!

So, Casey Coleman was sent down to make room for Chris Volstad. ??????????? They send one bad pitcher down so that they can call up………. another bad pitcher?

Don’t get me wrong, I hate Casey Coleman, and i hope I never see that goof brought up ever again. But didn’t they have anybody else better to bring up? What am I missing here?

  4. Pie In The Sky Says:

The Cubs needed a starting pitcher for two starts while Ryan Dempster is DL’ed. It was either Randy Wells or Chris Volstad.

  5. chucky Says:

I would have taken Wells. Volstad has been a complete disaster. But I am glad Coleman is gone.

  6. Pie In The Sky Says:

Chris Volstad is seriously challenging Casey Coleman for worst pitcher in the organization. I mean, at least Coleman was due for some fluke performances. Volstad is just… wow.

  7. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

I just got off work and checked the score. I am siding with Chucky here…why oh why is Volstad still on this team? Either Sveum is an idiot or the other guys in Iowa suck worse.

But hey, 20 games under .500 by Independence Day is fine with me! Does anybody else realize that if it wasn’t for a shitty Marmol and Volstad, that this team could be around .500 and in a pennant race because of a weak division?

  8. chucky Says:

Matt….don’t forget the performance of the heroic, immortal and saintly savior of Al Yellon, Kerry Wood. He blew a few games too.

  9. DVXPrime Says:

Matt, how would this team be in contention (barring Marmol and Volstad)? I’m not being rude, I just don’t see this team contending one way or the other…

  10. Pie In The Sky Says:

    Andrew Cashner: Injured. Again.

Anthony Rizzo: Might be the best hitter on team after one week. Jim Hendry spent nine years looking for a good left-handed power bat. Epstein might’ve got one in months…

    Matt –

Last year was the same story. Carlos Marmol and Mike Quade ALONE cost us at least 15 games. Those losses to STL were the difference between no playoffs and a playoff berth that led to a WS title.

  11. Robert Says:

    What about valbuena

  12. chucky Says:

What the fuck is up with Garza? Is he injured or something? He’s absolutely sucked lately.

  13. Pie In The Sky Says:

He’s spent too much time perfecting that shaving cream pie circus act of his?

  14. genrebuster Says:

Maybe he wants to retire as a Cub……. HA HA HA

  15. Ed Says:

Anyone who does not believe that Lovie is the problem after this year’s draft is a blubbering MORON. new GM…forced to embrace Lovie’s football philosiphy, and the draft, while better players were possibly drafted, still ignored pressing needs.
    Lovie Smith must go!

  16. Fro Dog Says:

    Ed,

If the Bears don’t win the Super Bowl this year, Lovie will be gone. I say in full confidence that is the case. A report came out after the draft that the reason they drafted Shea McClellan is because he is better suited for a 3-4 defense. Therefore, Emery is going to get a new coach in who wants that type of defense and not the bullshit that Lovie throws out there.

There must have been some type of agreement that Emery could get the job but only if Lovie gets one more year. Not to say this season is a wash already, but Emery has a year to take a look at what he has and what he will need in next year’s draft. This also gives him a chance to try to get Bill Cowher or Brian Billick to take over when Lovie is finally canned.

  17. MadCityMac Says:

Guys, here’s my take on Volstad; anybody with the same last name as the law that gave us Prohibition has to suck! The amazing thing is that THIS Volstad Act actually causes you to drink MORE!

  18. genrebuster Says:

    HA!

  19. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

So tonight, Marmol gives up a home run, loads the bases and gives up 3 total runs in a ninth that should have been set down 1-2-3. I wish for once in this storied, yet embarrassing franchise that we would have one manager who wasn’t a damn idiot. What will it take for Sveum to stop putting in games?????

  20. chucky Says:

    C’mon Matt. Marmol is………………serviceable.

    Isn’t he?
