A Cub fan wrote the following on Facebook regarding today’s latest Cub loss, “How fricking hard is it to run the bases without blowing a scoring opportunity? Rizzo should know better! Picked off between 2nd & 3rd on Contreras Base hit. I swear these guys run themselves out of big innings.”
That sums up my problem with Maddon right there. This team lacks focus, which is a direct result of his managerial style. The inconsistency in their play is the direct result of Maddon’s boneheaded in-game moves, the constant changing of the lineup, and his stubborn insistence on bringing in the same failed pitchers into tight games (Brach today). thinking that this time they’ll get the job done! I want the man fired, now!

9-0 Mets in the 6th. Jose Quintana gives up all 9 runs! What a pick up by Theo for a shortstop that is going to be a star for the White Sox! It is way past time for the Cubs to start firing people while there’s still time in the season to turn things around. Start with Maddon.

He’s a player’s manager, he pretty much lets them do whatever they want. It worked for the first two years, but since 2016 this has been their M.O. and it isn’t working anymore. Time to give Maddon some well deserved thanks for 2016 and move on. Time to move in Joe Girardi.

Now Hamels is out. Montgomery comes in and does what he does best, gives up 5 runs in 2 innings? Cincinnati owns the Cubs this year. Cin 6 Cubs 3. Next week Milwaukee will be in first place where they belong. Cubs haven’t got a chance at making the playoffs. They have no starting pitching, no bullpen, and no hitting. They’re done. One good thing that should come out of this is the firing of Joe Maddon. Now that I can look forward to.

Meh. Cubs just don’t have that swag that they had during those years they were chasing that first WS since ’08. Pitching staff is garbage. Craig Kimbrel was a panic signing. Honestly hasn’t been that good for awhile.
We’re seeing a lot of the same Epstein that Red Sox fans saw during his tenure: great with bats, awful with pitchers. Kind of funny that Epstein has always worked with big market teams because he’d probably have his greatest success with a smaller market that wouldn’t let him get hooked into those awful FA deals that rarely work out.
