A few things to say…

August 7, 2008

– Cubs take two out of three against the Astros. First place by five games.

– Scott Eyre was designated for assignment Tuesday. I think the Cubs should of released “Brown Spot” Bob Howry instead and some people I talked to on other sites said the same thing. Anybody see Eyre cry after finding out the news? It kind of sucks seeing him get emotional but this is a business.

– I think everyone INCLUDING myself should shut it about Alfonso Soriano. He missed two months of the season and still leads the team with 21 homeruns. He also has a .299 batting average. He is clearly carrying at this team at crucial times and who knows how many more games the Cubs could of won had he stayed healthy.

– It does not seem like Jim Hendry is going to get any bullpen help off of the waiver wire. Help is going to have to come within the system and the rosters do expand on September 1st. Maybe the Cubs have a pitcher in the minors that we have no idea exists who can help this bullpen down the stretch.

I probably missed some stuff so I will add it in the comments section if I remember anything. Enjoy the off-day guys. The Bears do open up the preseason Thursday night so I will be watching that. New thread coming Friday morning.

Jim Hendry

August 4, 2008

Making trades are easier said than done, but this is a situation that MUST be fixed. I have been critical of Cubs general manager Jim Hendry throughout his tenure but this year, I have really given him a lot of credit and he has deserved it. As long as Lou keeps overusing the pitchers, Jim Hendry needs to find a solid reliever. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH PITCHING. This bullpen needs reinforcements and fast.

I am not saying this because Cotts and Gaudin shit themselves on Sunday. We still won the game and that is what matters and Gaudin has been pretty good since coming here. That being said, Cotts sucks, Howry really sucks, Lou keeps overusing Marmol, Wood has a blister and Samardjia as good as he has been is still learning on the job.

So much to discuss…

August 4, 2008

Wow. What a weekend and there are a lot of things that need to be discussed so I will try to make this thread short.

1. First of all, I want to thank all of you once again for migrating over here. I am really glad that this place is getting a lot of visits and you guys are posting daily. I promise not to dissapoint!

2. The Cubs take two out of three from the Pirates as I discussed on Friday as what was being expected from this team. I was at the game on Sunday and it was electric. I know some of you are boycotting Wrigley and I understand. However, I love going to a baseball game no matter who is playing. I love the game and it helps me get away from things that bother me away from the Cubs.

Cubs vs. Pirates 8/1-8/3

Saturday – 12:00 p.m. Comcast SportsNet – Ted Lilly vs. Pat Maholm

Two months to go.

August 1, 2008

It is August 1st. The Cubs are five games up in the National League Central. These are the Cubs were are talking about so we cannot get too pumped up but it is hard not to. The Pirates are in town for three. Anything less than two of three will be a dissapointment.

Welcome refugees.

August 1, 2008

Welcome. This is Fro Dog. This place is for the people who came from firedustybaker.com as the site was rarely updated. I will try to update this often as I can so people can post their thoughts on the Cubs. Thanks for stopping by.

For added fun, check out the links on the right hand side as there are a few other sites that I visit daily and you all should too. Especially Hire Jim Essian!
