Derrick Rose out for the year with a torn ACL.

April 28, 2012

The Bulls were up 15 or so with a few minutes to go and Thibodeou still left him in. There was no reason for it. He did this shit all the time. There were a few games earlier in the year when they were up 20-something with a few minutes and all the starters were still in the game. Fuck this.

Bears article coming up soon.

Notes on the Blackhawks and Bears.

April 25, 2012

The Blackhawks for the second year in a row were eliminated in the first round. I am not surprised as I thought even in the regular season that the Coyotes were a better team. In the regular season, Mike Smith shut them out twice and he shut them out last year when he was with the Lighting. The guy is good. The Blackhawks scored on fluke goals or with an extra attacker late in the games. That being said, the Blackhawks had a chance to win this series. Corey Crawford pissed himself in this series and he was the difference. Every game in this series, he played great for the first half of the game. Then the second half and overtime rolls around and he turned into Cristobal Huet by allowing soft goal and soft goal. It didn’t help that the Blackhawks scored just one power play out of 18 or so chances.

I am not a hockey expert, but the Blackhawks need a lot of a help come this offseason. While the goalie situation should be looked at, it won’t. But they can try to get a center as well as two defenseman. I am not going to sit here and say who they should get but as long as Sean O’Donnell and Andrew Brunette aren’t brought back, I’ll be happy. Those guys sucked.

Moving on, we have the draft coming up Thursday. I mentioned before that Emery is doing the best job possible with free agents and trades so far. Unlike Angelo, he is addressing the depth of this team through offseason moves before the draft begins. I would like Emery to draft a wide receiver or cornerback in the first round but I have no problem with him taking an offensive lineman. I believe the Bears have at least six picks this year. In no particular order, they need a wide receiver, offensive lineman (maybe two), linebacker, cornerback, safety and a defensive lineman.

Whatever direction Emery goes, I’m all for it. The draft is supposedly his strength. Now comes the problem. Say all pieces fall into place, does Lovie Smith fuck it all up by misusing players and putting them in positions to fail? He’s done it before (See Devin Hester). In my opinion, it’s Super Bowl victory or get fired Lovie. That’s how it should be. He’s failed in eight seasons.

Feel free to add your thoughts.

Of course this is NOT the year.

ESPN is reporting that The Cubs have put reliever Kerry Wood on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder fatigue.

I’ve always been somewhat sympathetic towards Wood, mainly because I believe that the toothpick chomping idiot played a key role in his deterioration….but also because he seems like a good guy with a big heart…   baaaah baaaaah  baaaaah baaaaaah

Our good friend chucky just posted this in an open thread, I think it deserves the spotlight:

“My question is, isn’t time to finally cut this guy loose once and for all? I’m so fucking sick of “he’s a real Cub”, or “we need his leadership in the clubhouse” bullshit I could goddamn scream! Enough is enough! Ricketts needs to be taken to the woodshed for this shit. This asshole is taking a fucking roster spot from someone who is far more deserving, or someone to possibly showcase for a trade. Instead, we get more sentimental horseshit from an owner who, as far as I’m concerned, still doesn’t know his fucking ass from a hole in the ground. This whole damn thing is completely on Fanboy. Wood NEVER should have been brought back.”

Unless there is a clause in the contract that allows the Cubs to sever ties with a buyout (based on number of days on the disabled list), I’d tend to agree, at least from a competitive standpoint.

Here’s an idea for IDIOT fanboy Ricketts to ponder: Base all future hiring decisions on THE FACT that the Cubs haven’t won a World Series since 1908 (!!!)…and that long-time fans have had enough with “the losing”. Now there’s something to get emotional and sentimental about!

TRULY PATHETIC.

Bulls lose. Time for a Fro Dog post.

April 16, 2012

The Bulls reached a new low Monday night by losing to the Washington Wizards. Seriously? First, they play like complete shit against the Pistons on Sunday. They had a 14-point lead and blew it to the Pistons. Rose hits a three to force overtime. They commit about five fouls; none of which were called and they end up winning. They make 21 turnovers in the game but still find a way to win against a 22-win team. Fine.

Let’s go to Monday against the 14-46 Wizards. Oh man. This is going to be tough. First, they get an 11-point lead in the 4th quarter in which, they promptly cough it up. They miss six free throws and commit 17 turnovers. They had quite a few in the last quarter that ultimately, sealed their fate.

I use to say, well, they beat up on the bums but they lose to teams like the Thunder, Sixers and Pacers. In just over 24 hours, they steal a game from the 22-win Pistons but end up being embarrassed by the now, 15-win Wizards. Also, the Heat won on Monday so the Bulls could still piss away the #1 seed but let’s be honest, what does it matter? The Bulls could very well be upset by the Knickerbockers or Sixers. How does anyone expect the Bulls to win a playoff series when they barely beat the Pistons and lose to the Wizards?

(Waits for idiots like Yeti to flock here)

For you wrestling fans, I have two new articles up at Falls Count Anywhere.

For everything else, fire away here.

More proof that Lovie Smith is an idiot.

April 10, 2012

I think we all agree that nothing should surprise us on the decisions (most of which, are dumb) by Lovie Smith.

Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune wrote this article that is solid evidence of that statement. Devin Hester may be replaced by some new guys.

As we have seen in the last five seasons, Lovie Smith does not disappoint when it comes to making stupid decisions. Whether it’s calling a play or making decisions with the roster, he is in a league of his own. One thing that has been beaten repeatedly is what Devin Hester’s role on the team is. I have been screaming for him to just do punt/kick returns and nothing else. If they want to throw him on offense for a play or two a game, fine. But what Lovie did to him starting in the 2008 season of taking him off returns really messed him up. It took until 2010 for Hester to be put back on kick/punt returns full-time. In that year, he became the all-time leader for punt/kick return touchdowns. If it’s not broke, why fix it?

Teams who play the Bears shit themselves when they see Devin Hester standing on the other side of the field for punts and kickoffs. The Bears are almost guaranteed to get great field position everytime he sits back there. We’ve all seen teams do squib kicks. He doesn’t even have to touch the ball and they can still get great field position.

They don’t do the same for people like Johnny Knox. By the way, fuck Johnny Knox. I feel really bad that his back snapped in half and I never would wish that on anybody. But he was the same guy who was the reason why Cutler broke his thumb. The guy will be back sometime during the season but I prefer he stays on the sidelines. He’s not very good at football. You know who is? Devin Hester (when used properly).

How is he used properly? When he isn’t on offense for more than a play or two a game. When he back on ever punt/kick returner. But if he isn’t, you can be convinced (once again) that Lovie Smith is an idiot and has no business being the head coach of the Chicago Bears. Here are a few comments from that article:

“Smart! Why would we want Hester returning kicks?  He’s only the best in history.”

“Yep take the greatest return man in the history of the NFL and continue the failed attempt at making him a WR.  If he was not a return man, he wouldn’t even be in the NFL.”

“This would be beyond dumb.”

Glad I am not the only one.

Missed free throws and stupid turnovers. What else is new?

April 8, 2012

If anybody watched Sunday’s Bulls/Knicks game, you will know why they lost. Correct that. If you like basketball and know just a little bit about the game, you would know why the Bulls lost on Sunday.

This is going to be a first and I hate to do this: Derrick Rose really sucks in late game situations (Waits for idiots to tell me I am an idiot). While Rose has had two or three game winners so far in his career, he has had a chance to have about 20 more. There was a game earlier this year in Miami where Rose had two chances in the final minute to make free throws to win the game and he missed them all. On Sunday, he and Luol Deng (of course) missed all of their free throws in the final minute and Carmelo promptly hit a three to tie the game to force overtime. For what it’s worth, Noah missed a free throw in overtime. They were 22/31. I am not a genius or anything but I think that’s bad.

The Bulls in the first quarter alone had 8 turnovers and 19 total. A good team should have maybe 10 total a game.

What a bunch of assholes. Have fun losing in the first or second round.

Same old, same old?

April 5, 2012

It’s official, baseball is upon us.

Thankfully, I didn’t see the opener. Certainly not going to panic after one game…besides, no one in their right mind expects the Cubs to win it all this year….there is much work to be done.

Somebody once said that Jim Hendry was the frat boy who went to the party, ate several pizzas, drank a 1/2 gallon of whiskey  (or was it a case of malt liquor), crapped/puked/pissed all over the bathroom, knocked over some furniture…and left without cleaning up (or was that “W” …ha ha ha ha ha).

NEVERMIND. It’s time to stop living in the past!

Hopefully there will be major accountability with this new regime. Theo…we’re counting on you.

104 years. tick tock…tick tock…tick tock……………

Insanity.

April 2, 2012

Apparently, Omer Asik is even shocked at how bad he is at basketball.

The definition of insanity, as defined by Albert Einstein is doing the same thing countless times while expecting a different result.

Omer Asik being put onto a basketball court is a prime example.

I have no idea what the Bulls saw in this guy to think he is an NBA player. The guy has terrible hands. He can’t score. He turns the ball over. When he actually gets the ball, he will do a pump fake only to get the ball stolen from him or get fouled. He will then promptly miss the free throws which teams know they can foul him and not worry about it. While watching Sunday afternoon’s tilt against the Thunder in which nobody on the team showed up, the Bulls should do whatever they can to get rid of this guy.

During this game, Russell Westbrook made Asik his bitch by dunking right over him. I said before that if Asik kicked so much ass playing basketball in Turkey, if I could, I would go to Turkey myself to make a living playing basketball. I am only 5’9 and 160 but I can assure whatever team signs me that I can score just as many points as he does and there is a good chance that someone like Westbrook will dunk while I try to block it. In addition to that, I’ll take less money.
