It’s too late to make the playoffs as we all know. Is there anything to be excited about?
Thomas Brown gets his audition to be head coach. If somehow pull off four or all five remaining games for a victory, does he stay?
In the previous thread, our loyal frendt Dave listed candiates for the next coach and asked who we would want to take over this piss-poor franchise.
As we all know, this season is done. Five games to go and four total games out of the consolation-prize Wild Card spot, it would take a circumstance beyond an act of God for the Bears to make the playoffs.
So now, we focus on the next head coach this offseason. Thomas Brown is supposedly on the list if he proves to be competent. The jury is still out on that.
But I strongly feel the Bears should start with a clean slate. If Thomas Brown is retained as the offensive coordinator, I’d be fine with that. But no one else. I don’t have faith in Eric Washington as defensive coordinator due to the constant collapes and lack of awareness on that side of the ball. Yes, we all know that the idiot head coach who is now “future endeavored” ultimately cost the team the season. But it was his defense.
The two options are Bill Belichick and Ben Johnson. Belichick should be the first choice. If he tells them no, then the Bears should focus on the offensive coordinator the Lions in Ben Johnson.
Money shouldn’t be a factor. The Bears should hand either of those guys a blank check and let them fill in the numbers.
You already know Belichick is more than capable of putting a team in a position to contend. With Johnson, you see the progress the Lions have made. Some even thought Jared Goff was finished after his tenure with the Rams. He’s still very good.
The two the Bears should stay as far way as possible from are Kliff Kingsbury and Mike Vrabel. Both have proven to be abject failures in their previous head coaching positions.
First, a Happy Thanksgiving to all of you readers here. I appreciate the interactions with all of you.
Not sure there will be a recap today since I’ll be busy. So feel free to add your own recap of sorts in the comments.
This could be a real ugly game. So bad, that Matt Eberf-Lose will probably get a contract extension immediately after they lose 35-13 and then tell the media that they are “close” to fixing everything.
It’s another week where a team capitalizes on the stupidity of the Chicago Bears. So where do we start as fans?
How about when the offense finally takes the lead first in a game, the defense immediately gives up a touchdown?
Do you want to talk about yet, another blocked field goal? How about that blocked field goal that lead to a touchdown?
How about DeAndre Carter fucking up a punt that lead to yet, another touchdown?
Well, let’s talk about that shitty defense that just can’t get stops when they matter the most? Towards the end of a game and two different 3rd and long plays end up with first downs. From two different quarterbacks.
When the Bears finally score, Matt Eberf-Lose goes for two? Daryl Johnston was talking about that call and saying it was a good play because of the “anaylytics.” Fuck the analytics. You go with the play that is common sense and puts you in a better position to win. Not like it mattered at the end. Fuck this.
Thomas Brown, while much better than Shane Waldron, still had some horrible calls. They only scored 16 points until a miracle last two minutes that just extended this shitty game. That’s called poor execution. They had it setup for many more points and failed.
How many costly penalties were there for this team in the game? Again, all of these problems is on the coaching staff. It’s the coaches who are responsible for instilling discipline and common sense to this team. They have failed time and time again.
Let’s fast-forward to overtime, shall we? Caleb Williams holds the ball too damn long for a sack. Then a delay of game. Punt.
Then again, there is that shitty defense letting the team down when it matters the most. Game over.
Five losses in a row. Even if the Bears won out, they still wouldn’t make the playoffs.
Reports of Lions’ offensive coordinator Ben Johnson wanting to come to the Bears last year didn’t happen. So now, it appears he may not want to come here anymore because of the garbage that’s being displayed every game.
And many have said the McCaskeys want “yes men” to be in charge of the team whether it’s management or coaches.
This is the problem right here. Bill Belichick could work out for the Bears. The problem is that he actually challenges management to do something more. He doesn’t have to be the general manager. He just needs to coach and he’s been proven to do that. “But, he had Tom Brady!” Okay, your point?
He still helped draft Tom Brady. He also brought in the players to surround him. He took the Patriots to nine Super Bowls and won six of them. Last I checked, no coach has won that many.
I don’t fucking care what it takes. Why should another option be considered when every single head coach since Ditka has been awful? Wannstedt, Jauron, Lovie, Trestman, Fox, Nagy and now, Eberf-Lose. All awful head coaches who royally screwed up countless games due to their ineptitude. I’ve had enough. Enough with the first-time head coaches or ones who have awful track records (John Fox). Bring in someone who has actually had success.
Bring in Belichick. Give him a contract of one or two years and see what he can do.
It wasn’t just that it was against the Packers. It’s the fact that nearly everytime in the last eight years where the Bears get set up for a game-winning field goal that eight times out of ten, it somehow fails. Today was one of those eight times. Eight times too many.
I really wish I could just stop giving a shit about this team. To find something better to do on my Sundays. Play some video games that I rarely get to do these days. Or, yeah, my dog needs to be walked. It was actually a pretty nice day until that blocked field goal. It started raining right after. Go figure.
I know I will sound like a lunatic. But hey, I met my ex just over three years ago. I thought it was fate. Shit started happening in that relationship after four or five months. Then, all my teams somehow got even worse than they were before.
18 months after meeting, it was over. We didn’t speak for a while. Then earlier this year, started again until September.
So yeah, I’ll blame my ex for all of this garbage. She put the spell on me just like an ex did 13 years ago. Right after that ex left, Jay Cutler broke his thumb and the Bears lost almost every game after. Then about five months later, Derrick Rose tore his ACL and the Bulls were sent to irrelevance.
The Bears are fucking trash. The Blackhawks are well on their way to becoming the worst team in hockey again. The Bulls are irrelevant. Illini football and basketball have found ways to break me these last few years.
If only I could quit sports all together.
