Open letter to Theo Epstein…perhaps I’ll start a new thread with one of your posts. I’m not going to have time to compose “my letter” in the short-term…so, I’m hoping that some of you will come through…

Dear Theo…
May 29, 2012We stinks.
May 27, 2012…the END of one era.
May 18, 2012Regardless of where you stand on Kerry Wood, this is newsworthy. I still feel that Dusty Baker was a real detriment to Wood’s health/career…but what do I know?
Dear chucky: I invite you to cut & paste your relevant comments from the previous post…they should be a good catalyst for some civil – and uncivil – discourse!
TICK…TOCK…TICK…TOCK…TICK…TOCK…
Wild Thing, you made my heart sing…or, skip a beat.
May 14, 2012If the Cubs go 20 games under .500, I say bring Mitch (Williams) back and let him throw the ball WHEREVER…now THAT would be truly entertaining and more fun than a goat, a priest or a noodle statue (Cummstein, stay home).
Then have everybody bring their “Go Cubs Go” recordings to Wrigley Stadium…and burn them on the pitchers mound. This will surely guarantee a World Series victory for the Cubs…and we’ll all live happily ever after…
5/14/2012. CUBS WIN, CUBS WIN!! baaaaaaaa baaaaaaaaa baaaaaaaa
This just in: Dolis comes through with another save…Kudos. Bullpen by committee it is (for now). How long can it last? Gentlemen and the rest of you, your thoughts?
Enough already.
May 4, 2012Definition of PATHETIC:
- Arousing pity, esp. through vulnerability or sadness.
- Miserably inadequate.
After this latest BLOWN save, #1 just doesn’t do it for me. Why the hell should ANYBODY feel sorry for Carlos Marmol? This guy makes more money in a year than most of us will make in a lifetime. $7 million this year, 20+ million from 2010-2013. He made it to “the show”. I don’t feel sorry for him at all. I feel sorry for his teammates — who he let down again — and for long suffering Cub fans.
#2 sums it up just fine: MISERABLY INADEQUATE.
Marmol throws hard. SO WHAT? How about a “closer” who can PITCH? How about a closer who can get the ball over the plate consistently? How about a closer who has the right head for the job? How about a closer who can…close? What a concept…
Time to make a change. There is nothing to lose…start grooming somebody else for the job or make a trade for a legitimate closer when one becomes available.
I’m tired of this CRAP. The house-cleaning is not complete….
THOUGHTS?
Of course this is NOT the year.
April 20, 2012I’ve always been somewhat sympathetic towards Wood, mainly because I believe that the toothpick chomping idiot played a key role in his deterioration….but also because he seems like a good guy with a big heart… baaaah baaaaah baaaaah baaaaaah
Our good friend chucky just posted this in an open thread, I think it deserves the spotlight:
“My question is, isn’t time to finally cut this guy loose once and for all? I’m so fucking sick of “he’s a real Cub”, or “we need his leadership in the clubhouse” bullshit I could goddamn scream! Enough is enough! Ricketts needs to be taken to the woodshed for this shit. This asshole is taking a fucking roster spot from someone who is far more deserving, or someone to possibly showcase for a trade. Instead, we get more sentimental horseshit from an owner who, as far as I’m concerned, still doesn’t know his fucking ass from a hole in the ground. This whole damn thing is completely on Fanboy. Wood NEVER should have been brought back.”
Unless there is a clause in the contract that allows the Cubs to sever ties with a buyout (based on number of days on the disabled list), I’d tend to agree, at least from a competitive standpoint.
Here’s an idea for IDIOT fanboy Ricketts to ponder: Base all future hiring decisions on THE FACT that the Cubs haven’t won a World Series since 1908 (!!!)…and that long-time fans have had enough with “the losing”. Now there’s something to get emotional and sentimental about!
TRULY PATHETIC.
Same old, same old?
April 5, 2012
It’s official, baseball is upon us.
Thankfully, I didn’t see the opener. Certainly not going to panic after one game…besides, no one in their right mind expects the Cubs to win it all this year….there is much work to be done.
Somebody once said that Jim Hendry was the frat boy who went to the party, ate several pizzas, drank a 1/2 gallon of whiskey (or was it a case of malt liquor), crapped/puked/pissed all over the bathroom, knocked over some furniture…and left without cleaning up (or was that “W” …ha ha ha ha ha).
NEVERMIND. It’s time to stop living in the past!
Hopefully there will be major accountability with this new regime. Theo…we’re counting on you.
104 years. tick tock…tick tock…tick tock……………
I know, it’s early…but soon the March winds will blow…
February 18, 2012…and Springtime will follow; as it has every year since 1908, the last time the Cubs won a World Series. Do any of us dare to BELIEVE that the Cubs could win it all soon…or at least before we’re all dead and gone? (baaaah baaaaahh baaaaaaaahh)
I’ve been following the Cubs for 44 years or so, but my patience is wearing thin. While not claiming to be a sports expert or the next Bukowski, I have no trouble spotting mediocrity a mile away and am happy to comment on it. I’d rather comment on excellence, of course…perhaps Theo can be a catalyst for positive change. Wait a minute, he already is…he unloaded Lil’ Z!
Thank You, Fro for starting and keeping this site going after “bobbyd” disappeared and the original firedustybaker.com vanished (overnight), several years ago. And thanks for inviting me to contribute…work is really picking up so my posts could be few and far between, at least for awhile. But I’ll do my best as possible to spark some conversation, debates, rants, and the like…and to not be PATHETIC.
