First off, I want to congratulate Jimmy Butler on playing nearly 44 minutes in last night’s game against the Suns. ThomASS really loves driving his players into the ground with high minutes. And for what? The 5th seed in the East and one game above .500? No thank you.
Alright, now to my point of this article. The other day, Carlos Boozer tells reporters that he would like to play more, especially late in games instead of sitting on the bench. Now, I have given Boozer a lot of undeserved crap over the years with his tendency to yell at himself on the court and look like a clown in the process. I will say this, he has been the most consistent player on the Bulls since his arrival. I believe he has played in the most games and has always given a consistent effort. That being said, he does suck on defense and that’s why he isn’t playing late in games.
After his comments, Thibodeau decided to tell the media that basically, Carlos needs to shut up and just take it. He then went on to say that players like Taj Gibson never complain about playing time. “That’s what I love about Taj” was his exact quote after making the comment about how he never complains.
I am going to defend Carlos Boozer here. You can’t blame the guy for saying he wants to be in the game playing. Everyone else sitting on the bench wishes they could be out there playing. Most wouldn’t say anything because they are professionals. But I applaud Boozer for this. It’s about time someone steps up. ThomASS, since his arrival, has enjoyed not playing many people and the ones that are in the game (i.e. Jimmy Butler), are playing nearly the entire game. Players like Erik Murphy and Tony Snell wish they could play more 30 seconds a game. With Carlos, I don’t think his comments warranted a controversy nor criticism. It was a professional speaking out and saying he wants to play more. No one deserves that. He may not be a Bull next season but I give him an incredible amount of respect for speaking up. He knows that his head coach is PATHETIC and will continue to be that way.
